So what is a sitz bath?
A Sitz Bath is a treatment to help with endometriosis symptoms.
It is simply a small bath that you lower yourself into so that the water covers your lower abdomen up to the belly button, upper thighs and groin.
Sitz baths are highly recommended in Europe by herbalists and naturopaths and are used for treating conditions that negatively affect the organs of the female reproductive system such as pelvic inflammatory disease and endometriosis. Sitz baths are also used to treat constipation, hemorrhoids and lower back problems.

What is endometriosis?
Sitz baths stimulate the blood flow in the pelvic area and help to heal having similar effects to those of acupuncture. When used regularly, sitz baths can significantly reduce inflammation and swelling.
Essential oils are typically used in the bath to enhance results.
In the case of endometriosis a sitz bath method involves using two baths, one hot and one cold. For effective results this should be done twice a day once in the morning and once in the evening.

You can use two baby baths for this method:
•Fill two tubs, one with hot water and the other with cold water;
•sit in one tub for 2-4 minutes and
•sit in the other tub with the different temperature of water for a further 2-4 minutes and repeat a further two times. This should take about 12-24 minutes to complete.
Alternating between the two temperatures of water will produce short-term changes in blood pressure so it is important to avoid this method if you have high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis or any type of heart condition or if you are pregnant.
Cold Sitz Bath
Add 2 teaspoons of rose hydrolant or rose water to a very cold bath. Rose hydrolant and rose water are both by-products of essential oils. Both are water-based products and should not be confused with pure essential oil of rose. Try to buy organic and preferably use rose hydrolent which is undiluted rather than rose water which is watered down.
Hot Sitz Bath
Add 9 drops of essential oils to hot water and swish around until the oil is well-blended. The water should be as hot as you can stand but take care not to scald yourself and make sure the water is comfortable enough for you before lowering yourself into the bath.
